What is MOTS-c research peptide used for in laboratory settings?

It is studied chiefly for its involvement in mitochondrial signalling, metabolic regulation, and cellular stress response, including its interaction with AMPK and its movement into the nucleus under stress conditions.

Is MOTS-c the same as other mitochondrial-derived peptides?

No. It is one among several mitochondrial-derived peptides identified so far, each encoded by a different region of mitochondrial DNA and associated with its own signalling behaviour.

Why does purity matter so much when studying MOTS-c?

Because much of the research interest centres on subtle signalling effects, any impurities or degradation products present in a sample risk masking or distorting those effects entirely.

Has MOTS-c been tested in human clinical trials?

Most published evidence to date comes from animal models or in vitro work. Human trial data remains limited, so conclusions should be treated with appropriate caution.
